The project is officially known as Capital Smart City (Islamabad) — recognized as Pakistan's first and Asia's fourth officially recognized "Smart City."

Capital Smart City is designed around smart infrastructure, eco-friendly urban planning, and modern technology integration — offering a lifestyle that combines cutting-edge technology with sustainable, well-planned living rather than a conventional housing scheme.

Capital Smart City is located on the M2 Motorway (Lahore–Islamabad), ahead of the Thalian Interchange, near the New Islamabad International Airport, with its own fully operational, dedicated Smart City Interchange providing access to Chakri Road and the Rawalpindi Ring Road.

FDHL stands for Future Development Holdings (Pvt.) Limited, a premier asset management and real estate development company focused on creating next-generation "Smart Cities." It's one of the two co-developers of Capital Smart City, alongside Habib Rafiq (Pvt) Limited.

Surbana Jurong (SJ), a Singapore-based firm, was responsible for designing the master plan of Capital Smart City, bringing international urban-planning expertise to the project's layout and infrastructure design.

The approximate total road length is 210 kilometers, with the Overseas Block accounting for 23.51 kilometers of that total.
